While I was soaking up some sun at a local community pool, a family came in with two little girls to spend some time in the water.
Splashes, giggles, and protective parent's voices were singing in my ears as I glanced over at them. The parents were discussing the game-plan of the day. Happily chatting about how they should put the girls down for naps and get ready for an event later that day - while the two toddlers were throwing their water toys in the kiddie pool,- squealing excitedly as they dipped their tiny toes in the shallow water.
It brought a smile to my face...
Some time later, they had put floating devices in the pools for the girls to glide across the water on. The father put his little girl on the lady bug, exclaiming "Ladybug, Ladybug - are you my little Ladybug?" gliding her closer to him on the floating raft. You could deeply sense the love he had for his daughter - they were such a joyful family.
I was reminded of how much God loves me, - we're all his little ladybugs!
Think about these lyrics, by David Crowder...
How He Loves
He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all
Yeah, He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves.
We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
So Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…
Well, I thought about You the day Stephen died,
And You met me between my breaking.
I know that I still love You, God, despite the agony.
...They want to tell me You're cruel,
But if Stephen could sing, he'd say it's not true, cause...
